ECHOES OF GALLE

Witness the fort through
centuries of history.

For 500 years Galle Fort has been shaped by three colonial empires - the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British, each leaving their mark on every corner of Sri Lanka.

Echoes of Galle is a fully immersive 360° virtual reality experience that brings that history back to life. Audiences are guided through a living reconstruction of the fort, revealing its life as a maritime stronghold, a centre of Indian Ocean trade, and a crossroads of cultures from the Portuguese arrival through to the height of Dutch colonial rule.

The production was developed in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Sri Lanka, and supported by archaeologist and historian Chryshane Mendis, and Tharanga Liyanarachchi - a Galle local, archaeologist, and former senior figure within the Galle Heritage Foundation. Their involvement reflects a commitment to accuracy, local knowledge, and responsible storytelling.
