Step inside the ancient fortress
at the height of its glory.

What remains of Sigiriya today is extraordinary but it is only a fragment of what once stood here. At its height, the rock fortress of King Kashyapa was one of the most ambitiously built complex of the ancient world.

The Sigiriya VR Experience is a fully immersive 360° journey through that lost world. Visitors begin at the base of the rock and move upward through the royal water gardens, past the Lion's Paw Gate, alongside the Cloud Maiden frescoes as they appeared when first painted, and finally to the summit where Kashyapa's private palace once stood above the plains with views stretching to the horizon.

The experience was developed with art direction by historian and artist Prasanna Weerakkodi, whose visual reconstruction theories were further validated by archaeologist Dr Nilan Cooray. Every environment has been built to reflect recognised archaeological understanding of the site.
